About Me
My name is Matthew Young, and I am a computer science student attending DePaul University in Chicago, IL.
I have a very strong interest in programming, and related studies, and I hope to explore and share that knowledge through this website. A few languages I am currently interested in are HTML5/Javascript, Scheme, and Python. More generally, I am interested in web development, functional programming, distributed systems, algorithms, mathematics, and server administration.
What's Happening
Currently I have just begun learning Javascript, and diving deeper into Python.
Additionally, I have begun reading Ableson and Sussman's The Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs and learning the scheme programming language. With the guidance of Mark.us, I have also tried to immerse myself a little further into the language with the help of Emacs, Geiser, and Guile. Together, these form a pretty powerful Lisp environment on top of GNU's official extension language/scheme compiler/scheme interpreter Guile.
About This Website
This is my personal website. There is nothing interesting about me in particular, but I thought it would be nice to have an easily accessible home for whatever I feel the Internet needs to know about. As the website grows, I hope to provide articles relating to the topics I am studying. I am also planning on providing code, complete programs, and as a testament to my iron will: not too many cat pictures.
